Several years ago a co-worker introduced me to the concept of “The Five Year Plan”. Her new daughter-in-law vowed not to have children during the first five years of marriage because it was not part of the couple’s Five Year Plan. They wanted to establish their marriage before adding kids to the equation. Hearing that philosophy opened my eyes. I was about to enter my thirties but lived without planning anything more long-term than my impending nuptials. That was the moment I started creating goals for myself. They started small. Now I am moving forward, in the direction every beautiful, strong and powerful Black woman should.
I am Jenise Bradshaw. I am a wife and mother of four. Years of juggling multiple roles resulted in neglecting me. I was overweight and no longer enjoyed many things that once brought me pleasure. In the midst of this cycle I had an epiphany: “What if I use the information available online in books, online and through my network of doctors to research and find the solutions to my woes?” I made changes to put myself on the path to a healthy mind, body and soul.
Throughout my journey, I have learned that regardless of age, women want to feel, look and be good every day of their lives. When it comes to your health you have to be mindful, concerned, and active with your physical, mental and sexual self. Take back your health or take it to the next level! It is time to be uplifted, empowered and healthy. I will be here at 40Muse.com every other Thursday to share my “Healthy Musings”. I cannot think of a better way to share the fruits of my labor than with you.
